omg!! we're almost NOT there!!

Who says that caste discrimination is abolished? Forget abolished, who says that the government is trying hard to abolish it? Coz the truth is “it’s not even close to being abolished”. The only solution the government has come up with in order to get rid of the system is “reservation”!! A definite percentage of seats are allotted for the backward class in every walk of life, be it education, employment...etc. And what exactly is this doing? The answer is simple: it’s reminding all of us that castes still exist.
When the JGI team visited manepalli to do a survey for rural implementation, it came across a very ridiculous situation. The village was divided into two sections, more like two societies. One included the people of the higher class and the other included the people belonging to the backward class (SC and ST). And these two sections are demarcated or divided by a ROAD!!
As we probed further into the situation we also got to know that there are two schools in the village. One for the children of higher class and the other for the children of lower. To let you know where exactly this is leading we have decided to compare the facilities of the two schools, beginning with the higher class school.

HIGHER CLASS SCHOOL:
1: Basic needs like classrooms and toilets are met.
2: The ratio of 1:35 is met (I teacher for 35 students). Teachers however wish they had a few volunteers around to help them out.
3: Relatively more number of teachers than the other school.
Overall the principal of the school is happy the way things are run. He only wishes there were more amenities and facilities to explain subjects better.
When the JGI team asked him how we could help, his answer was plain and simple:
We need youngsters like you to volunteer and teach the students.

LOWER CLASS SCHOOL:
As we entered the school premises we were greeted by students answering to nature’s call in the open!!
And we thought, “God!! What a start!!”
The school looked pretty much like the other one but with just 1 teacher and about 11 students.
When we asked him the reason for such poor attendance, he said “ poverty”. Parents are extremely poor and hence they need an extra hand in the fields. And so children do not turn up to schools. And even before we could ask him about the school, he was complaining about the schools pathetic condition.
The students don’t even have a toilet to relieve themselves during class hours. And poor attendance makes it hard for the teacher to finish the portions on time.
When we asked him why they have separate schools, he said: the children of this school can’t cross the road. It simply means that they are not allowed to cross the road (possible exploitation). But the problem is not just one sided, the people of the lower class think that they will lose their luck if they happened to go on the other side. The question here is, what luck do they possess anyway?
They are living in extreme bad conditions. They live in a mudhouse which could collapse any minute and they are struggling hard to eat. Then why are they still living in darkness??

  1. There shouldn't be any reservation for anyone!
Discrimination starts there! Everyone should be treated equal! To get this ghost out of their heads(which is castes), we should educate them.. Get them out of their own little cocoon which surrounds them with stupid superstition!
The only way we can fight this is teach them how to 'stand up for themselves'
What they've gained over years is sympathy and it does no good to them.. They should live like one of us coz they are one of us.
They live in darkness coz they haven't stood up for their rights! The so called 'higher' caste people should be punished if they looked down upon such people.

Humanity is one's only religion :)
